Hon. Philip Ruddock, former Federal Ministry of Justice/Immigration Minister of the Australian Federal Government, and the mayor of Hornsby, received a group of Chinese study tour students organized by Australia International Trade Association(AITA) in Hornsby City.
Minister Philip is a household name among Australian Chinese, especially those coming over from China in recent decades, because it was Minister Philip who signed the agreement to give permanent residence (green card) to ten of thousands of friends living in China today.
Minister Philip introduced the history of Hornsby and the city's educational resources. The city has many good private high schools located in important cities in Sydney's North district, including some elite public high schools. Many Chinese immigrants also send children to the local schools because of the quality of the educations resources here. Philip hopes that China and Australia will have more cultural exchanges, especially amongst the younger generation.
Local media reporters and other friends also participated in the event.
